warm jar flash mob (part 1)
So many amazing ideas and entrants! I am posting them in two parts. If one of these creations is yours, write a comment explaining what it is made of and why, and say hello to the community. As for the rest of you, start looking and pick a favorite, and through your feedback a winner will be chosen based on the group's favorite design. Remember the main point though: a way to keep glass quart jars warm to carry hot coffee in.

I agree with you Odie. The mushrooms are my favorite too. The creativity of folks amazes me.
Jenna, I also wanted to thank you for the great info in Chick Days. We have 7 hens ( a mix of Barred Rocks, Easter eggers, and Red Stars) who started laying eggs in early November. I followed the advice outlined in your book and they are thriving. The eggs are delicious and we are really enjoying them.
The mushrooms are terrific but, being a knitter, my favorite one has the cables in multi-colored yarn.
I am intrigued by the last one, but have to cast my vote for the cable knit, same as 17th stitch.
17th stitch...I also am a knitter and the 2 that are knitted caught my eye. I was curious if you were on ravelry.com? It is a wonderful place for knitters. You can find me as candisrrt.

So cool! I submitted the second one.
I crocheted a tight fitting "sock" versus a regular sleeve. The "handle" is merely decorative as it's just scrap fabric (I like to slide my hand through the handle on a traditional cup; get that nice warm feeling). The lid is a storage cap. I've drilled two holes - large for drinking and small vent hole. The lid will also help trap the heat. To see more pictures and to read more about it, here is a post I wrote:

I really love the first one with the mushrooms. SO cute! If it's made with wool felt (as opposed to the synthetic stuff), then even better. That would definitely insulate well.
I also think the lid on the second one, the blue knitted sock, is genius as far as keeping things warm in the jar.
I made the array of fall colors. They are made of felt and sewed together with embroidery thread.

I like the rainbow of fall colors one the best - They look so cozy and would be a neat way to perk up with. :) [Fall is my favorite season and I just love the colors.]
All the entries are wonderful - such talent.
Being an amateur mycologist I adore the one with the Amanitas on it. Not only is it cute but it is functional. However, that said, I'm reserving my final vote till the others are posted.

Yay! I made the fourth one with the knitted cables. I used a small ball of yarn I'd spun on a drop spindle. This is the perfect project for small amounts of handspun or fibers that are too itchy for next-to-skin items. I continued the cable motif through the handle and then lined the handle with some felt to stabilize it. Thanks for the positive feedback already!
I like the second one, the simple knit light blur with the fabrichandle. Very creative lid as well.

I like the mushroom one for its sleek design and practicality, but I also think that the last one is so crazy and great and guaranteed to keep your beverage warm. Does it cover the lid too?

I'm voting for the blue one with the patchwork handle; the handle helps you hold onto the jar and the cozy is short enough you can drink from the jar without the cozy getting in the way.
The mushrooms are my favorite! They are all beautiful and creative, but the mushroom cozy looks the most simple and practical. And I really appreciate such qualities. Great work, everyone! Thanks for sharing.

but mushrooms it is (i've looked at both sets of photos).
The last one is actually a picture of it inside out. You can find a picture of it turned right side out in a second (and later) post, flash mob part 2. It's the maroon one with little white polka dots and white buttons. What I've done is taken raw wool and knitted it into the cozy so that the outside looks nice and neat, but the inside stays nice and warm.
These are all so creative! It's hard to say which is my favorite. Each entry showcases a different talent. I like the one with the knitted cables.
I was disappointed that my entry didn't make either of these flash mobs. Oh well. It was still fun to make it.
It may not of made it for as simple a reason as I couldn't find it in my email, darling. resend it and I will post it up. I thought I posted them all?
my vote is for the light blue crocheted sleeve on the jar with the white top. seems most utilitarian and yet comfortingly cozy.
I made the mushroom one! It's done with upcycled wool sweaters with some bits of cotton from my scrap bin for the mushrooms.
I've been making several of these in pint and quart sizes, but I think this mushroom one is still my favorite one so far.
I really like the fluffy last one posted here. It just makes me giggle.

The first one is definitely my favorite, but then again, i'm partial to recycled wool ;).
The last one is so fun looking & cool, but I would have a hard time drinking coffee out of that. It would however (since i'm assuming the outside is wool), make an awesome warm-lunch-in-a-jar carrier, since wool is insulated.

The last one, the fluffy wool one is my favorite, and seeing it pictured in flash #2 right side out, it is even more my favorite because it is a combo of warmth and texture. Sipping hot coffee while feeling a feather bed, you would not even need to wear gloves outside with this cozy!
